Herencia Altés Garnatxa Negra 2014
Wine AdvocateThink of this as a Spanish Cote du Rhône coming from vineyards planted as far back as 1915. This is another up-and-coming area in Spain and importer Eric Solomon calls this 100% Grenache wine his Pinot Noir of Spain. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but there is a wonderful black cherry note in the wine and underlying minerality. Fresh, medium-bodied, rather round and pure flavors, with not a lot of complexity, but a very savory mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. It is certainly a great value.
