La Posta Angel Paulucci Vineyard Malbec 2014
|Region||Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo|
Vibrant red color with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, ripe blums and violets wafting from the glass along with notes of toasty oak. On the palate, the fresh berry flavors mingle with spice notes and there's a hint of soft caramel on the finish. This is a creamy, medium-bodied and well- structured wine that is incredibly full of life. Goes great with everything from hamburgers and chicken to pasta and mild cheeses.
Ripe blackberry and plum aromas are open and potent. Strong tannins make for a rough palate feel, while dry, pulling raspberry and plum flavors finish with burn and a woody character.
A single-vineyard Malbec, the 2014 Malbec Angel Paulucci Vineyard from Ugarteche felt very ripe and a little advanced. A second bottle was marginally better, but there are some soil and organic notes intermixed with very ripe plums. Compared with the other single-vineyard wines from La Posta, this is not showing too well. 120,000 bottles produced from the 20-21 hectare vineyard.
