Capanna Brunello di Montalcino 2001

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Capanna Brunello di Montalcino is a very traditional Brunello, soft, suave and elegant. Due to its characterists, and its capacity to develop and improve for many years when bottled, this wine is now valued as one of the most exclusive Brunellos. "Pretty and caressing, with aromas of chocolate, coffee, berry and cherry" (Wine Spectator, 7/01). This wine is an excellent accompaniment to game, grilled red meat and matured cheeses. Its full-bodied taste also allows it to be enjoyed on its own.

Wine EnthusiastAnise seed, cherry cola, balsam notes, bacon fat, sandalwood and mint liquor are nicely stitched together. The wine renders a warm sensation in the mouth with exotic spice over a persistent finish.

Wine AdvocateThe 2001 Brunello di Montalcino from Capanna opens with expressive high-toned aromas of flowers and spices. Medium in body, it offers an attractive up-front quality in its red cherry fruit and soft tannins, yet falls a bit short on the mid-palate. It should be a good relatively early-drinking wine in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2017.

Wine SpectatorLoads of ripe berry, raspberry and vanilla character. Full-bodied, velvety yet tannic. Big and powerful. Mouth-puckering. Too much extraction? Best after 2009. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
