Château-Rollan-de-By Medoc 2010
Wine EnthusiastA powerful selection, this is dominated by tannins. Under the firm structure, there is a fruity aspect that will develop. It has the potential to evolve into a full-bodied, intense wine that maintains a sense of elegance.
Wine SpectatorSolid, with a core of raspberry and steeped blackberry fruit inlaid with anise, apple wood and wood spice notes, all backed by a well-integrated graphite edge on the finish. Drink now through 2020. 27,000 cases made.
Wine AdvocateConsistently better than its humble appellation, this excellent wine from proprietor Jean Guyon offers up plenty of black currant fruit intermixed with cedar wood, licorice and incense in a medium to full-bodied, surprisingly concentrated and expansive style that should drink nicely for a minimum of a decade or more. There's no need for patience with this sleeper of the vintage, given the sweetness of its tannins, attractive glycerin and fruit levels.
