Aia Vecchia Lagone 2015
In the glass, the wine is deep ruby with purple hues. On the nose, the wine is delicate with notes of cherry, vanilla, raw beef and herbs. On the palate, it is dry, structured and elegant with flavors of plum, ripe cherries, wild berries and a hint of spice, followed by a lengthy and smooth finish that begs for food. Serving suggestions: This wine is very versatile and would pair well with both red and white meats, various pasta dishes and hard cheeses.
James Suckling - "A rich, flavorful red full of ripe fruit and new wood. Full-bodied and intense but shows an underlying freshness and depth. Needs two to three years to soften: better in 2017." (REVIEW OF 2013 vinta
Wine AdvocateMade with a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Lagone shows toasty and oak-driven notes above black cherry and plum. Those oak notes of cinnamon and crushed clove emerge immediately. It takes a few moments before you identify the primary fruit. The 2015 vintage was a hot one, and the mouthfeel is extra rich and succulent as a result. Those powerful oak notes appear once again on the finish, giving the wine structure and spicy endnotes. This an excellent value for those looking for an approachable super Tuscan wine.
