Black cherry, licorice, leather, vanilla and tar aromas and flavors are the highlights of this rich, dense red. The tannins are assertive, but this has harmony and a long finish. Best from 2017 through 2029. 416 cases made.

The 2011 Barbaresco Basarin is a ripe and modern expression with bold cherry Maraschino and candied blackberry followed by toasting spice and sweet almond paste. The oak presence is evident and will soften with more time in the bottle. Its concentration shows big density and a high level of extraction for the color-weak Nebbiolo grape. The wine is velvety soft and richly textured. Barbaresco Basarin can be opened shortly or can benefit from more aging. Drink: 2015-2022.

Aromas of mature plum, blackberry, toasted oak and vanilla carry over to the palate along with coffee and espresso. Raspy wood tannins give an astringent finish.
