Cherry-red color and slightly orange rim. Intense aroma of ripe fruit, with hints of vanilla and toasted wood, with jam coming through underneath. Tasty, smooth, pleasant, spicy, very well-balanced and rounded.

I love the classical nose of spice, berries and herbs of the 2016 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza, a textbook ultra-classical Rioja that matured in used American oak barrels for 24 months, during which time it was racked by gravity every six months. These wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and a soft vinification without much extraction of long macerations. It's expressive, polished and very pleasant, really what I expect in this style, with some developed notes and a gentle mouthfeel. 100,000 bottles produced. Very good introduction to a classical Crianza at a very attractive price. It was bottled in April 2021.
