The Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of two-thirds Grenache and the rest an interesting concoction of 12% Syrah, 13% Mourvedre and the rest Cinsault and other permitted grapes. It displays an attractive bouquet of black cherry fruit, loamy soil and foresty aromas in addition to plenty of glycerin, body and freshness. There is no evidence of oak as the wine is aged primarily in foudre. This fleshy, seductive 2011 should drink well for 5-7 years.
