Cragganmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 year old
|Category||Single Malt Scotch|
|Region||United Kingdom, Scotland, Speyside|
A complex Speyside single malt whiskey praised for its depth and complexity. John Smith designed Cragganmore distillery around unique flat-topped stills to deliver complex flavours. It is a true designer malt. Tasting notes: Gold color. The nose is a combination of sweet floral fragrances, riverside herbs and flowers with some honey and vanilla. "The most complex nose of any Single Malt Scotch Whisky" (Michael Jackson). The body is firm, rounded, light to medium. On the palate is a strong malty taste with hints of sweet wood smoke and sandalwood. The finish is a long, malt-driven finish with light smoke and hints of sweetness. Serve on the rocks in a tumbler or tulip glass to concentrate its flavour, and add a splash of water to release more of its complexity.
The succulent aroma develops with aeration in the sweet forms of barley, cream, light caramel, and a trace of tropical fruit. Palate entry is round, borderline plump, breakfast-cereal sweet, and honeyed; at midpalate, there's a slightly oily peat smoke. Sweetly concludes with the focus on the malt.
