Casa de Saima Baga de Vinha Velhas Grande Reserva 2014
The 2014 Baga Vinhas Velhas Grande Reserva was aged for two years in neutral tonels. It comes in at 13% alcohol. This is a step up on its 2014 sibling in power and structure, but it doesn't show a lot more concentration or vivid fruit. This is still pretty nice for a very tough year, but I fear that the structure is far better than the fruit. If this develops some expression of fruit, it might get an uptick, but I have my doubts. In other years, I might be more optimistic in terms of aging potential, but I'd give this a couple of years to settle down-then, dive in. It may hold indefinitely because of its structure, but the fruit may not keep up.
