Kopke Colheita 1999
Quite lively, with energetic acidity rippling from start to finish, allowing the raisin, dried plum, green tea, ginger and roasted almond notes to race along in lockstep. The tightly focused finish has excellent length. Drink now.
The 1999 Colheita Tawny Port comes in with 118 grams per liter of residual sugar. This is heavy on the brandy aromas, a bit light and no more impressive than its younger siblings. It does show more complexity, of course, but not enough to compensate for its good but straightforward performance.
