Fragrant with Mediterranean scrub and tobacco notes, this bright red offers a core of crushed black raspberry, wild strawberry and peach fruit, with citrus peel, graphite and tarry mineral accents. The firm, sinewy tannins are well-meshed, but emerge on the spiced finish. Best from 2024 through 2029.

A mix of sage, mint and smoke gives way to crushed plums as the 2019 Aglianico del Vulture Grifalco opens up in the glass. Its textures are silky and refined, ushering in a polished display of mineral-tinged black fruits, lifted by brilliant acidity and hints of sour citrus. Inner violet tones, salted licorice and currants linger incredibly long as this tapers off youthfully structured and poised. The 2019 is classic to the core and in need of some cellar time. The Grifalco is sourced from all four of the estate's vineyards, blended for balance, and it's considered the flagship wine of the portfolio.
