The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Campogiovanni opens to oaky tones and overtly ripe fruit. The wine is slightly overdone in places, especially the palate where it feels sticky and chewy. Wood-driven tones of cinnamon, clove and vanilla add thick layers at the back. Sweet oak and syrupy cherry fruit characterize the opulent close. Ultimately, this wine is too much of a good thing.
