Bright, with caramelized peach, green tea, green plum and salted caramel notes woven together nicely. Date and ginger peel notes dapple the finish. Very stylish. Drink now. 25 cases imported.

As one of a series of great, aged tawnies released by Kopke, this Colheita is still quite young. It has just hints of the freshness of red fruits that are now endowed with intense acidity, old-wood flavors and great concentration. Dried fruits show through the bite of spirit and the mellow aftertaste. Drink now.

The 2001 Colheita Tawny Port is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca coming in with 118 grams of residual sugar. Simply gorgeous, this focused and delectable Tawny dribbles its fruit and sugar over your palate. It is irresistible. At around 20 years in age, it is as fresh as a daisy with a bright feel. It's a Colheita that will have everyone drooling in ecstasy. While, as a young Colheita, it does not excel in complexity, it does a great job with what it has, and there's a big finish. After some warmth (and also after a couple of days open), the complexity is there too. At the same time, it has a remarkably reasonable price point. This is a can't-miss bargain if it actually comes into the marketplace at or near that price. This release was bottled in July 2020 with a bar-top cork.

Here there’s more of a return to the dried grasses of the oldest of these wines, less immediate sweetness to the aroma compared with the Krohn 1999. A dusty scent like motes in the sun, opening up to a deeper richness of fruit, dried apricots, plus caramelised nuts. Intense and mouth-filling with a gorgeous contrast between the sweetness and the freshness. Vibrant, bitter-sweet, long. A tiny hint of something medicinal right at the very end.
