Villa Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé 2017The Pfalz (aka ‘Palatinate’) region is in the Rhine river valley in southwest Germany, directly north of France’s Alsace region. The low-lying Haardt mountains protect the area from cold, wet Atlantic weather, making it one of the warmer and drier areas of Germany. Wine grapes do quite well here where it is possible to achieve full ripeness in every vintage. The predominant soil type in this area is well-drained, weathered sandstone. It produces wines with a fruit-driven purity and a stony structure. The Villa Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé is made with fruit from vineyards farmed expressly for the purpose of producing a rosé. Only perfectly ripe , healthy grapes are selected. Upon harvest the fruit is given a brief maceration (four to six hours) to extract a lovely salmon color from the Pinot Noir grapes. The resulting wine is light and refreshing, with deliciously bright fruit flavors and a clean, zippy finish.

In Provence, a 'Puech' means a small hill (or mountain), a 'Puech Haut' is a hill higher than the others. This position, 'on a hill higher than the others', is conducive to exceptional drainage for the vineyards. The clay and limestone soil is composed of boulders brought by the Rhone in the Quaternary and its plots reside on hillsides protected from excessive temperatures by the nearby Mediterranean Sea and winds including the Mistral, the north wine pervasive in the region.

Round, very mineral, and slightly saline on the palate, Clarendelle Rosé is altogether delicious. It is suave and concentrated, while remaining tremendously fresh and fruity. Chateau du Glana Saint-Julien 2014Château Du Glana is located on the Route des Grands Vins running parallel to the Gironde estuary, between the towns of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, opposite the famous Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. Château Du Glana was constructed in 1870 by Mr Nadeau, the city of Blaye's architect, for Mr Cayx. At about this time, a small (5 hectares) vineyard of gravelly soil was consolidated thanks to the purchase of several plots of land from neighbouring Château Saint-Pierre. After several other owners, Mr Gabriel Meffre bought Château Du Glana in 1961. He increased the vineyard to 43 hectares in the following years by acquiring several plots belonging to third growth Château Lagrange. Helped by his young sons Ludovic and Julien, Jean-Paul Meffre now looks after the estate. They are motivated by a major ambition: to achieve the estate's full potential. Surrounded by some of finest great growths in the Médoc, Château Du Glana has made tremendous strides in quality since 1999. Much thought has gone into making improvements over the past several years and the vineyard has been entirely renovated. Château Du Glana produces modern elegant wines of character reflecting the estate's superb terroir. The estate's completely restored buildings (vat room, grape reception area, ageing cellar, offices, and reception room), the immense care taken in the vineyard, and precious winemaking advice from Professor Denis Dubourdieu provide a sound equilibrium between modern methods and respect for tradition. Château Du Glana is thus a well-balanced, velvety, and complex wine enjoyable young, but also with excellent ageing potential (over ten years).
Château-Gloria Saint Julien 2014A deep red, violetish colour. A jammy nose of red fruits. Notes of liquorice, catechu and vanilla. On entering the mouth it is silky with an exceptional melting quality. Highly precise tannins with exceptional elegance and length. While many Bordeaux Chateaux have long histories in the region, especially in the Medoc region, but that is not the case with Chateau Gloria. In fact, it is a relatively new estate as compared to its peers. The creator of Chateau Gloria wine label is Henri Martin, who has a background in Bordeaux wine. On the 50-hectare Left Bank vineyard of Chateau Gloria includes 9-hectare of vines in Pauillac. To produce the wine of Chateau Gloria, vinification takes place in temperature-controlled and stainless steel vats.

Château-Grand-Puy-Lacoste Pauillac 2014The 2014 blend for Grand Puy Lacoste has, once again a large proportion of cabernet sauvignon (82%) proving once more the potential of this vineyard to really express all the best characteristics and charm of the cabernet grapes. This wine has an impressive intense ruby red colour. The nose expresses ripe, concentrated black fruits, blueberries and blackcurrant liqueur, typically Grand-Puy-Lacoste, with a slight spicy, peppery note. On the palate the first impressions are of density and great precision, carrying on with ripe tannins, powerful and elegant. This 2014 possesses a beautiful balance and freshness with a long finish and an intense note of cocoa. We find in this wine the framework of the great vintages of Grand-Puy-Lacoste where the richness and complexity of the terroir, combine with the refined fruit and ripe tannins which are perfectly expressed.
Château-Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2014The colour is a steady purple. The nose is composed of forest fruit and spices with a continuous graphite line. The attack is flavourful. The evolution on the palate is dense and rich carried by a comforting freshness. One has the impression of biting into a cluster of grapes with gusto. A real Pauillac of intense pleasure.
Domaine de Chevalier Pessac Leognan 2014Deep and brilliant ruby color. Intense nose of great wine. Fine and complex with outstanding purity of red ripe fruits. Spicy (pepper) and mineral (very typical graphite notes). Full mouth, very precise, chiseled fine tannins, coated with delicate fruity and crisp flesh. The balance is impeccable. The wine is energetic, very clear with long finish.
Chateau Sansonnet Saint Emilion 2014Dark ruby and deep color. The nose is intense and complex, it reveals aromas of red and black berries. Wood aromas small present are elegant and spicy, which will bring a beautiful complexity during the ageing. In mouth, the wine is silky, round and persistent.
Chateau Pavie Macquin St. Emilion 2014Pavie Macquin is situated on a plateau, next to the hill of Mondot and on the edge of the Fongaban rift. The vineyard sits at an altitude of between 75 and 100 metres at its highest point. A single tenant, its neighbour to the west is Troplong Mondot with Chateau Pavie (1er G.C.C.) to the south, while to the north lies Trottevieille (1er G.C.C.).

The attack is silky on the palate with a tannic structure present, all in balance. The lightly oaky fruit aromas are very elegant and contribute to the long aromatic finish.

Château-Smith-Haut-Lafitte Pessac Leognan 2015Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2015 is a very dark red wine, almost black. The nose expresses a bouquet of black fruits and very freshred fruits. Through swirling, the nose appears more complex with notes of spices, cedar, liquorice associated with notes of violet and a touch of flint stone. The mouth is straightforward, dynamic, powerful, dense, classy. Tannins are concentrated, unctuous and silky. They give the wine great length and beautiful texture. We find again in mouth the crunchy and ripe fruits and an additional spicier dimension with liquorice, citron, clove and a wonderful finale of floral and mineral notes.
Chateau-Siran Margaux 2015Produced from soils made up of a deep layer of gravel, the wines of Siran are typical of the great Margaux growths. Both powerful and delicate, they express the perfect balance between tannin, fruit and acidity. They are long-ageing wines, which over time develop sweetness on the palate, giving a characteristic silky and velvety mouth-feel. Made from a subtle blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, Château Siran generally expresses finesse, femininity and silkiness rather than the raw power and virility of some Médoc wines. The high percentage of Petit Verdot, which can be as much as 15% of the final blend in some years, brings a spicy finish which enhances the unique character of the wines of Château Siran. Château Siran displays charm when young but is also a wine of very long ageing potential. Wine enthusiasts particularly appreciate the complexity of its aromas that it develops over time.
Chateau Clerc Milon Pauillac 2015Showing a menthol, redcurrant bramble note on the nose, it also has a lovely mocha edge from the oak that adds complexity. The palate has a weight of fruit and flesh that so many wines in the Médoc seem to be lacking, while the tannins are fine with a sweetness that really adds to the mouthfeel. Plump, multi-layered fruit is joined by a lovely spicy edge to the creamy oak on the finish.

Château-Meyney St. Estephe 2015Château Meyney's vineyard is planted of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot, on a perfectly-drained gravel soil that provides ideal conditions for grapes ripening. This unusually high share of Petit Verdot explains a particular trait of the wines, which regularly show notes of leather and musk after a period of time. The wine is full-bodied, well-rounded and structured. After ageing, the wine displays the remarkable charm of the best Saint-Estèphe: complexity, balance and harmony.

Clarendelle Rouge 2012The wine has a brilliant, intense garnet-red colour. The bouquet is complex and fruity, with ripe berry overtones. Great care was taken to extract silky tannin. The fresh acidity contributes to the wine's attractive fruitiness and delicious flavours. Furthermore, there is a long, powerful aftertaste and a beautiful finish. Altogether smooth, elegant, and balanced.
Château-La-Croix-de-Beaucaillou Saint Julien 2010Croix Beaucaillou, like a first growth, is therefore submitted to careful selection. Most of the wines coming from the plots of young vineyard as well as the lesser batches will incorporate the third growth which will be sold or... drunk at the chateau. Croix de Beaucaillou is thus subjected to a reasoned blending aimed at producing a wine which will of course reveal its assets earlier than Ducru B but also the characteristics of a great Saint Julien: elegance, finesse and of course its ability to age. It is worth noting that this wine is far superior to the connotation of 'second wine'. It is a great, noble wine, which we are sure will play a prominent role in the Saint-Julien appellation. La Croix de Beaucaillou has been bottled on the property since 1995. Until then, it was sold in bulk to Bordeaux wine merchants.

Aromas are very complex and evoke violet, cherries and humus, with blackberry and noble tannins coating the palate. Extremely well balanced, the wine has a very persistent, rounded finish. With age, the aromas turn to mushroom and underbrush, while conserving all their finesse. Chambolle-Musigny should be served with delicately prepared dishes, such as "Canard aux cerises" (duck cooked with cherries) or "Boeuf aux morilles" (beef with morels). The cheeses should be ripe but not too strong.

Joseph Drouhin Gevrey Chambertin 2016Gevrey-Chambertin is a wine with a beautiful, bright ruby colour. Intensely fruity on the nose, the aromas are reminiscent of black cherry, wild blackberry and liquorice. The woody character is subtle and marries delicately with the other aromas. As the wine evolves, there are more complex notes, such as mild spice, nutmeg and leather. Later still, mushroom and damp earth nuances make their appearance. Although present on the palate, tannin is never astringent but blends itself harmoniously with the natural freshness and "gras" (velvety texture) of the wine. The same aromas encountered earlier on the nose are found again in the aftertaste.

Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port 2016 375mlDeep purple black with a narrow magenta rim. High notes of pure, intense woodland fruit with lively accents of green apple, fresh plum and raspberry. Around this core of bright, singing fruit is a heady aura of gumcistus and wine herbs. On a deeper register, exotic notes of cedarwood and jasmine provide an additional dimension of complexity. The wine has an attractive leanness and muscularity with sinewy, linear tannins that integrate seamlessly into the mid palate and then re-emerge to hold the wine in a confident grip. Energised by a racy acidity, the intense berry flavours continue to build into the long finish.
