A barrel-aged blend of 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre, the 2019 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Volte Face boasts flashes of cedar and vanilla (roughly one-third of the oak is new), backed by peppered black cherries and hints of redder fruit. Complex on the nose, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with softly dusty tannins providing a gentle framework for this ripe, generous wine. It should drink well for another 4-5 years, at least.
