A Barolo of high standing, both austere and complex. Deep red garnet in color. Delicately spiced bouquet (notes of eucalyptus, licorice and menthol), mature fruit (liqueur soaked cherries, blackberries and prunes) and hints of violets and medicinal herbs. Powerful on the palate, lightly acidic and fresh. Lasting finish. Food Pairing: An aristocratic wine that finds its ideal match with game, jugged hare, braised beef, chamois, roe deer, wild boar, venison, and pigeon. Superb with dishes garnished with white truffles from Alba, like cardoon flan with fondue and duck ravioli..

A big and powerful Barolo with chewy tannins and lots of fruit and structure. Full body, chewy tannins and just so much fruit. Layered and complex. Just a baby. Drink in 2022

The 2013 Barolo Enrico VI is fabulous. The deeply spiced bouquet, firm spine of tannin and dark fruit are all signatures of this renowned Castiglione Falletto site. Explosive and powerful yet very much medium-bodied in build, the 2013 exudes pedigree. Succulent black cherry, menthol, licorice, cedar and new leather add the final shades of nuance. This is one of the best young versions of the Enrico VI I can remember tasting.

A modern style, with vanilla and toast elements embracing plum, leather, soy and tar flavors. Has grip, but also an overall equilibrium and a lingering, savory aftertaste. Closed up now, but reveals a sweet fruit core. Best from 2021 through 2036. 600 cases made.

This wine's incense, French oak, woodland berry and iris aromas slowly take shape in the glass. On the firmly structured, focused palate, vanilla, menthol and espresso notes accent its red cherry and pomegranate core. Close-grained tannins leave a firm, tight finish, needing time to unwind. Drink 2023-2033.

The 2013 Barolo Enrico VI is a dark and opulent expression of Nebbiolo with a soft and contemporary approach. The wine is redolent of black cherry, dried raspberry, grilled herb, smoke and tar. Each aroma peels back in a thick and succulent layer. The quality of fruit offered here is frank and generous. Although the wine will certainly benefit from a long bottle evolution, it also shows immediate qualities for medium-term drinking.
