Brillant and vivid garnet ruby. Nose is complex with great freshness, evident hints of cherry and ripe strawberry with a background of dried apricot. All accompanied by pleasing tarry notes in the finish. Mouth is full, of great elegance and refinement with silky tannins that make the palate pleasantly clean.

The 2016 Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a pretty and gracious wine from the village of La Morra. Crushed red berries, flowers, spice, mint, cedar, dried herbs and sweet tobacco are all nicely lifted in this translucent, inviting mid-weight Barolo. Orange peel, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, dried flowers and star anise add a whole range of exotic aromatic overtones. This is such an inviting Barolo. I would give the 2016 a few years in bottle to allow the tannins to soften.
