A crowd-pleaser, this is open-knit, with a lively bead and great balance. Shows hints of plum, black raspberry, blanched almond, ground ginger and white pepper. The fresh finish echoes a smoky mineral note.

Being, as usual, the same base wine as the corresponding (-based) "Tradition" but with the addition of some Ambonnay rouge - and also as usual, tasting very different from that sibling! - Egly's NV Brut Rose Disg. 2/2013 displays prominent sour cherry with a hint of strawberry, its juicy fresh fruit mingling with leather and smoked meat on the nose as well as the firm palate, and leading to a finish less transparent to nuance, juicy or saliva-inducing than that corresponding "Tradition," but charming, invigorating, and persistent.
